Information

CO2-free products receive seal from TÜV Nord Wienerberger is now producing its Poroton flat bricks filled with perlite in a climate-neutral process that does not have a negative impact on the atmosphere. Poroton S9-P masonry made of TÜV-certified climate-neutral Poroton bricks. The basis of the Wienerberger climate protection strategy consists of three pillars. 1. optimized production of Poroton bricks. 2. sustainable energy sources. 3. compensation of residual CO2. The Poroton-S9-P plan brick with water-repellent perlite insulation is the most stable object brick with outstanding sound insulation. The solid brick body provides static safety and masters the highest loads in multi-storey construction. Thermal conductivity, W/(mK): 0,09 Fire resistance class, load-bearing, room-sealing: REI 60 / afi = 0,57 Wall thickness, cm: 42,5 / 36,5 U-value (with light plaster), W/(m2K): 0,20 / 0,23 Sound insulation, Rw, Bau, ref., dB: 48,0 / 48,5 Masonry compressive strength, fk, MN/m2 / 5,2 / 5,2 Firstly, Wienerberger is reducing emissions along the production chain as much as possible - and has therefore implemented a systematic change in the production process: The use of state-of-the-art drying and firing technologies has reduced annual energy requirements by 13 million kWh. This reduces the burden on the environment by 1,800 tons of CO2 each year. "At Wienerberger we have invested a substantial 6-digit amount in our climate-neutral Poroton bricks", reports Jürgen Habenbacher, Spokesman of the Management Board of Wienerberger GmbH. These measures are part of an operational energy management system that is certified according to ISO 50001. Second: the clay building materials producer is committed to electricity from renewable sources and thereby avoids the generation of greenhouse gases. For example, over 1 million kWh of electricity from renewable sources are used to produce the climate-neutral bricks. And third: Wienerberger reduces the remaining CO2 that is generated during the production process to zero - and does so through support for global climate protection projects. Here the company relies on emission certificates that meet the highest standards and are subject to an internationally defined and monitored recognition process by the United Nations. TÜV Nord checks these compensation measures and awards its "climate-neutral brick" seal to products manufactured in a CO2-neutral way.
