Regardless of whether Sir Norman Foster’s world-renowned architectural firm is designing an airport, a museum, a door handle or a luminaire, great thought is always given to design and function – right down to the tiniest detail. This desire for perfection is also characterised by the novel Hoy lighting system developed by Artemide in collaboration with Foster + Partners for Apple’s headquarters in California.
For this innovative tech company, an equally innovative lighting system with a minimalistic design was created. The track elements in the ceiling system for Apple’s futuristic new headquarters are exactly 100 millimetres wide. The need to fit lighting and safety technology precisely within these narrow ducts led to the development of the Hoy system. Its extremely small casing means Hoy sets benchmarks for outstanding lighting technology features, offering high light output, perfect colour reproduction and optimum glare suppression for workstations.
Suspension or ceiling elements, spots or blind modules can be combined to create an homogenous system into which all kinds of extra functions, such as a loudspeaker, camera, sprinkler or sensor, can be integrated.
Hoy is a masterpiece of modern lighting technology – the product of an excellent collaboration between three companies who are global leaders in their respective industries.
